Is this something that activly monitors the gear that the trans is in based on which solenoids are active? So if you have your car in OD and you're at a stop light, 1 would light up, and then when you start accelerating, 2,3, and 4 would light up when the required gear is activated? So I would have like a mini light show in my center console at night while I'm driving in town or stop and go? If that is the case, when the PCM commands to go from 4th to OD, is there a light that would light up, or install another lite that when the TC locks into OD stage it would light up? I hope my questions and comments make sense. Doing something like this could also be very helpfull in drivability trouble shooting.

You can also count....Starting at 1.....The shifts....Thing is most people don't count 1 and when the car goes to 2 they say "1" when they've already used 1 and they are in 2. Count and start at 1 and track what gear your in.....when you hit 4 you'll hit about 55 mph or so and soon as your acceleration stablizes the RPM'* drop to 1500 and you're in OD where as 4th you'd be at about 2000 RPMs maybe? Just my thought

Looks like you could tell if the TCC Solenoid was applied by simply tapping the wire at the brake switch.

I think that you just need to pop off that top cover over the lights and replace as necessary....I'm gonna give it a shot.....My lights haven't worked since I got that car and never knew that they were supposed to either.
