piaa halogen tech. specs question
hey everyone
after this mornings lesson on why the HID upgrade blows unless your car was built with them installed...... i did my homework searching the club on PIAA.
since enough of you all have them in your car im sure this is an easy question.
1. How can a halogen bulb have a color temperature if its a filliment and not xenon gas?
I've seen the PIAA has a color temp of 4000 to 4130 (depending on whos topic your searching) What is the sylvanias Ultra color temp ?
2. the PIAA says a 51w bulb = 100+ watts (i forget exact) isnt that a bit harsh for our wiring harnesses? OR is it just pulling 51 watts and it converts it to higher wattage.
i dont wanna sound ..... dumb, but i just wanna be clear before i blow money again.

2 stock HL bulbs are 55 watts each. this means the total draw for the low beams would be around 110 watts. if the PIAA bulbs are 51 watts each the total draw would be around 102 watts and result in a lower total draw than origional bulbs.
It doesn't convert anything. 51 watts per bulb is 51 watts per bulb, simple as that.

its almost like perfect timing
my one silverstar ultra just burnt out. Im done with sylvania.
Amazon.com has PIAA'* on sale 15% off, i ordered a set and it cost 75. i went with PIAA because i hear most of you all saying their a good set of lights
Ill post pics of Sylvania Ultra vs PIAA when they come tuesday.
I kind afeel bad for my headlamp housing. its spent more time out of the car than screwed down like it should.
Bonneville'* are addicting..what can i say.
please....still throw your 2 cents in on PIAA and Sylvania. i still have SS'* in my LeSabre 1997 and they work for some strange reason after over a year.
