wattage nd clipping
ok i have an alpine type r 12 and a type r 10 i have an infinity refrence 611a mono block amplifier the specs on the amp say 676 watts rms at 2 ohms but my subs will hold at least 400 a piece rms and when i turn my amps gain up halfway the clip light starts flashing bassboost is all the way down and no bass on my head unit will i blow my subs if i turn it more or should i back down
That sub amp is definitely not powerful enough for those two subs. Its only good enough to run one of your subs, so take your pick. I run a 900W @ 2 ohms monoblock in the Bonneville with my R12.
What impedance do you have those two subs wired to?

So you have them wired to either 4 ohms, which will run the amp at ~450W, or 1 ohm. The amp is not rated as 1 ohm stable.
Either way, your amp isn't powerful enough to run both subs.

Your light is flashing do to an impedance problem. Like Extreme mentioned. Ur amp is a two channel correct? and ur Type R is a DVC? there u go. Leave ur 10" sub out of the equation. Two subs does not double your dB compared to one sub. I have a 12" Type R also
I just reread ur thread.. Ur amp is a 1 channel. and ur sub is a dual 2 ohm.
single sub hookup

And if im not mistaken Infinity rates their amps at 15v like sony, Lanzar, ect. So ur not actually pushing 676w rms. Brands like PPI, Kicker, ect rat their stuff at 12v. So when u actually put it in your car, your amp is putting out close to what they say
