Default Trouble with negative battery bolt.

okay, i know this would seem the simplist of tasks but for some reason i am stuck. i need a new negative battery terminal bolt to allow space for my strobelights and green led underglow wires. so i looked online and getting the bolt isnt a big deal, but when i went to take the negative cable off to see what i was dealing with and sure i was getting the right thing, i realized that the bolt didnt come off from the stock wire connector. i loosened up the cable (at the connector) and the cable seperated from the battery but the bolt, which i NEED to replace stays in the connector which i need to keep (teh bolt spins freely in the wire connector). do i need to cut the rubber and see if theres a latch of something holding the bolt in so it doesnt fall off or what? any help would be greatly appreciated. i have a 94 SSE if that helps any...

You should be able to push the bolt up and then turn it. It should catch and move out. If not, you may need to look at replacing the whole cable.
