as foolish as this may sound if you wanted to keep your 6x9'* but they popped from trunk pressure, couldn't you install a small port tube in the middle of your deck?

Only if you leave that opeing open. If you have one solid box going across it really doesnt do all that much cuz you are blocking the passage way. Thats why I took out my 6x9'* cuz they kept on popping because the bass had no breather so to speak. Once I removed the 6x9'* the bass was definently louder, & the trunk did not rattle as bad.
