I always like a challenge, with your initial budget you can do okay with this:

99$ + ~15$*+h
Polk Audio MOMO MM2124
12" Single 4 ohms MOMO Series Subwoofer (MM 2124)

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...MO+MM2124.html

200$ + free *+h
Infinity Reference 611a
Mono subwoofer amplifier
456 watts RMS x 1

http://www.crutchfield.com/*-R18LgCz...120&I=108R611A

The sub is rated very conservatively, it'll rms well beyond what it says.

Hrm. . . with that, you'll still go a bit over on the box and cables unless you are able to DIY the box (cables aren't too bad). Since you're connecting to the factory head unit, you'll have a bit more fun since you'll have to run a filtered high pass to the amp, but with a little research, it'* pretty straight forward.

Now, for drop-your-jaw bass (on a budget), I'd go with this driver: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...SR124-DVC.html

With the same infinity amp (it'll push 657rms into the dual voice coil), you'll get some pretty hefty "oomph" out of your system.

Although I just did my budget install but if I were to do it again I would try it this way:

TC Sounds 12" dB-500 $109 (shipped to the states, not sure how much more Can is)
400 RMS since 4ohm voice coil
http://www.tcsounds.com/db500.htm

MA Audio M1889I
400rms at 4ohm
99.99+ shipping
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...io+M1889I.html

KnuKnoceptz
4ga amp install kit
26.49 + shipping
http://knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KLM-K4

That'* 235.48.

Leaving more than enough if you need to buy a box and the extra shipping costs and such.

Even though I own a GT710, I have realized first hand that Sony sucks.

Now, FINALLY someone built something decent for a good budget!
Your best bet is to shop around, and maybe find some smaller brand deals, such as teh TC sounds that Rob mentions. You'll get much more bang for your buck going that route, other than going to best buy and getting their deal of teh week

Nice work Rob!
