sub placement question... - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

Default sub placement question...

putting a 10" MTX in the trunk and am wondering (being i've never had a car before...) what is the best way to orient it in the trunk or will it even matter?

(500 watt sub, 540 watt Power Accustics amp)

the sub should face the back of the car for the best sound.

So you should see the cone when you open the trunk.

beyond that it really won't matter too much. I've been looking at putting one in our Bonneville, and I was figuring that I'd tuck it up close to the rear of thr back seat on one side more than likely, to allow me to keep as much of the trunk space open as possible. Guess it would depend on your box size, too, to some degree.

I was going to try putting the speaker box on one side of the pass-thru, and building sa small amp rack on the opposite side.

Have Fun!!
