Has anyone put a small sub, maybe 6" or 8" in the back deck of the car, where the 6x9'* go? Would it sound allright, even though there is no enclosure holding it in. Leave the speakers in there, but put that sub in between them....

it'd be ideal for midbass most likely. but then you got those pesky 12" or 15"* right under it... may defeat the purpose kind of.

yes, and its been done before. its called infinitie baffle mounting. bass output is increased, but power handleing is cut back a lot

you could do it with any free air sub...or make a custom fiberglass enclosure if you wanted deeper bass.

yah i put tens in the back deck and im actually thinking about putting some better ones in and creating a sealed enclosure under them so that they can handle more power. if you dont they lose about half of what they are rated and its baffle mounting or free air. they are absolutely wonderful for midbass and actually fill in some lows too but you will want some other speakers to fill in the higher notes. not sure when im gonna start the enclosure yet though. im probally gonna add 4x6'* to the back doors to play higher notes in the back. ive got tons planned but cash is runnin a little tight right now since i just bought my infinity cappa perfect 5.1s.

If you let a sub free air, your freaquency response will be a lot flatter, but you will lose volume.
