Hi....I'm a first timer on the site, so be nice.

I just bought a 2000 Bonneville SE, and I am planning to put in new speakers, and hook up my Ipod.

My question is how much power the factory unit has, and if it has a connection in the back for the iPod adapter.

The sysytem that is in there is just a tape deck, and there are four speakers total (not the Bose system).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think your factory radio has an input for your Ipod. You might have to look into getting an aftermarket radio that would have an AUX input. As far as the power output on your factory radio, I would say no more than 15-30 watts? Maybe im wrong, but someone more knowledgable in that area might know. I Usually get rid of the factory radio all together.

For that price you can get a decent aftermarket unit that will have EVERYTHING he wants.

But he would still have to buy that products ipod converter. Which run between $60 and $120 dollars. When a radio says "iPod compatable", it doesnt mean it comes with the stuff to hook it up. It means you can hook an iPod up if you buy the iPod kit for that radio.

or you can use the aux input on an aftermarket HU and control the music on the ipod. which on most HU would cost 5-10 bucks for an RCA to headphone jack wire.

Been using my iPod interface w/pioneer so long i forgot about the input RCA'*. DO'h! Just make sure to check specs. to make sure the radio has RCA inputs, and your set. Unless you wanna hide your iPod and control it from the radio like mine. Good call CC

anywho, back to the origional thing,

yes there are ways to connect your ipod, FM modulator is a cheap and easy way, but you sacrifice some quality.

There are other ways if you have a CD changer input (I'm not sure if you do, I dont know 00+ radios)



as for power output, I'm not sure on that either.

basically, as always, a stock headunit puts out minimal power on the 00s.. i have no idea about CD changer controls, and i know that there is no inputs.
