Default stereo in 89 bonneville

i was wondering if there was a factory radio out there for the 89 bonneville that had the cd player? or if other years would fit? and if i were to put an aftermarket one, what would be a decent/low priced stereo? also, what is the size of the speakers in an 89 bonne? thanks

yes, the SSE trim came with the option. You can get one from a yard if you want to keep the stock look.

Otherwise check out crutchfield.com they have a great selection and some of the best customer service you will find anywhere.

I personally recommend Pioneer for a head unit and Infinity for speakers. Others are good too, but if you wanted an opinion, you've got one.

On the SSE the performance sound is a diffrent thing than an SE performance sound...

The SSE has a Gain amp for the rear speakers, and the speakers are a Dual Voice Coil design... The speakers have 2 sets of wires( in the rear deck ), The Gain slider controls the output of the gain amp for the Bass or low notes on the rear speakers... so therer is a little to work around....

But in all honesty, I'd have to say that the stock 5 band EQ stereo in the 87-91 Bonnies without the gain amp sounded really good on their own...

I have one of those stereos in my LE and have added the door speakers, replaced the dash speakers and rear deck speakers with pioneers... I'd have to say this sounds better than an 89-91 SSE with the Gain amp feature...

But keep in mind that if you have the performance sound on an SE you got a 6 speaker system... You have no dash speakers, insted they were in the front doors and you had the rear deck ETR( Extended Range ) speakers

If it makes any sense the Gain system on the 89-96 SSE was a tad diffrent and required a little work..

You have 5.25" woofers and tweeters in the front doors, and 6x9'* with tweeters in the rear..

There was a CD playes for the 89-91 Bonnies but they are incredibly rare
