The sound still comes from down by your knees, but angling it definitely helps the imaging. You'll get much better sound out of the Infinitys compared to the stock speakers, and when you're ready to add an amp, you'll be all set.

that is also what i did...the angle was noticible for me at leas....and also im running some high power components all the way around, but it looks stock
