Default Some thoughts

Well, i got a RE X series audio 12" in here rated at 175W but has a rating of 800W peak. I am running 188W into it @ 8 ohms (4 ohm DVC subwoofer). I am extremely satisfied with the quaility of sound and impressed with how well built the woofer is. I blast this thing and the woofer doesn't break a sweat AT ALL. My first 10" that came with my logitech z-5500 (the system i'm running) always got hot when i played it. Especially when i put my fingers in the middle of the woofer feeling the heat. One day i was playing music on it and it just blew. 1 month. Anyway, on topic, i really feel that this woofer can handle 500W. I am deciding whether i should recycle this one and buy another of the same woofer or buy 2 RE audio SE series subwoofers. Even if i blow these woofers, i will be completely fine with that. I just don't feel that i should have to buy completely different subwoofers when i am completely satisfied with the one i have and add another.

Raptor, i know what your thinking. "a newbies worst mistake is to run a woofer higher or lower than the rms. always run the rms power." I am trying to learn more about audio right now. I'm only 14 and i just wanna brainstorm a little and see what i have to work with.

Also, i'm kinda starting to make plans for a car that my dad has. His 2004 jeep grand cherry. I really really dont like the fact that i have to use that car however my dad'* promise to let me have his bonneville that my sisters using when i turn 16 is fading away. As a first system, should i just add a few subwoofers and keep the stock audio running? or should i buy a some speakers to put in the stock speaker areas?

Again, these are just some thoughts. Some opinions/answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Ben

well.. I dont think its as big of a deal if ur underpowering them on a pc sound system. what is the rms output power of the amp?
as for the Jeep.... Stock speakers will sound much better with an aftermarket HU. Start with that and if they still sound like poop, then upgrade the speakers. Since u will have to upgrade the HU anyway to add an after market amp for subs...unless u use an amp with hi level inputs.

Im not quite understanding what u are saying in the first part of ur thread..... whats the problem? recycle the blown Logitech? i thought u already replaced it with the RE... why r u looking to buy another RE? I DONT KNOW WHATS GOING ON.... LOL!
