the resistance of the resistor when on 20K: .46
the resistance of the LED when on 2000K: about 350

OK, just saw your edit. How about blue bulb covers? The series suggestion won't work. Another series suggestion, the three in series, with one resistor equal to the resistance of the three bulbs together.
how do i go about doing that...what connections do i need and what resistor. i dont really know what the colors actually mean, besides how much they resist. the ones i have are blue with a brown, black, blue, red and yellow stripe

EDIT: the code on the resistor already on the board is: it is tan with 3 red stripes and 1 gold one

also, i have done a small search for blue bulb covers, but these things are freakishly small...i was thinking about making some out of a blue rubber used for coating tools, but i dont know. i think if the LED worked, it would be a lot bright also, which is what it needs

Some soldering will be needed. One way or another, put it on the negative end, since that is how it was done with the stock bulbs.

I think my diagram would need a side view. The leds have two little posts as leads right? No socket? So, bend one out, solder the resistor to it and the appropriate place on the board. Put some electrical tape or something where needed so the lead does not contact the board and bypass the resistor.

That'* what I would try.

I did one on the left. It might be easiest to do your soldering on the back of the board where there already is solder points.

Light grey=leads
dark grey=solder point
tan=resistor
blue=led
