radar detectors - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

Default radar detectors

I'm looking into buying one. I'm looking at a Cobra for a little over $100, can't recall the brand, it was at Best Buy. I'm looking for opinions on these, is this a good brand to use? Are they easy to hook up? I'm NOT letting Best Buy hook it up, if I have to I'll have my uncle do it, but if it'* not that hard I'll do it myself.

Bell is good, and there are like 4 or 5 other good brands also.

I my self have a $50 whistler and it works Very well.

Now just remember ANY Radar detector only works if you know how to us them

My SLE has the perfect spot for it, the cubby hole on the roof console, it has a 12volt plug too...its saved me from a ticket several times too..but they don't work too good with instant on that most of the cops around here use...i think mine is a whisltler, i've had it 3 years and have only been stopped once
