Well enough is enough. I'm stuck in the province of Ontario (Home of the $10,000 we take your ****) for speeding. And the big traffic ticket blitz is alive, well and making tons of cash for these underfunded SOBs. Of course, detectors are very very illegal here.

We also have Spectre III, IV+ operating in all of the provincial police cars here. This is a fancy unit from 'down under' designed to sniff out your detector. Much more advanced than the old VG2 method they use to use.

I've pulled the trigger on a BEL STi driver (one of only 2 units made that is stealth to Spectre)

Now I have to install this little bugger. Problem is, I can't decide WHERE to place it. A visual from one of said officers is just as good as detecting it electronically. The place where the 2 visors end is completely taken up by the courtesy lamps/cubby hole/eye glass holder. The visors are DUAL so no real wiggle room there and of course, windscreen and dash mounting is completely out of the question....

I'm a little confused as to how to get this hidden.

Anyone else have an issue like this before? Any Ideas?

I have a whistler fuzion. It has a built in sniffer. If it detects that'* someone is looking for it the detector will shut down for several minutes. then wake up and take a quick look and then shut down again if it'* still being looked for. It'* a gauge pod design so it can be hidden anywhere. The antenna is mounted in the grill, the laser detector is up by the mirror, and the speaker is where ever you want to put it. The display can be put in the dash, or where ever you want.

I am gonna be the scape goat here and just say not to speed if they are going to be this anal about it.

It'* still a nice reminder to have a radar detector. I don't generally speed, and if I do it'* just a little over. Even if I'm not speeding, I feel naked without my radar detector.

Somethings about rural have its benifits, I helped a neighbor girl move today. Went by our Constable on the way home coming at me from the opposite directin. Both of us prolly doing round 60-65 in a posted 40. Waved at each other and I never really looked at the Speedo or into my rearview.

I know the feeling V. When I was kid I got pulled over for doing a massive burnout then proceeding to get up to around 90 in a 55 going right past one of the sheriff deputies. He flipped on his lights, pulled me over. When came up to my window he said, "Son, what the Hell do you think you're doin? Are you retarded? Think a little bit more, and get the Hell outta here"

I agree. If you have to spend that much money on equipment just to figure out where they are at, its pointless to even bother. Do the speed limit like your suppose to.

And yes, I do have a detector on my dash. Do I use it? No. It'* not even connected. Do I still fly? Yep. Do I know how to look for them now? Yup!

Big waste of money IMO. With New Gen point and shoot LINDAR, if you coming around an obstructed view speeding, and the Police haven't shot anyone ahead of you,..... all the radar detection in the world strapped to your dash wont help you. Nice to have something looking forward for you, but it it isn't going to be a cure all / save all like the days when detector Technology beat out the Police. Like mentioned, being aware of your surroundings and not taking overt chances are your best options.

J - IMO - The obvious easiest and legal solutions are 1) don't speed and 2) don't install an illegal device that can get you into more trouble.

LIDAR or Laser. Is not commonly used here lucky enough. At least municipally at this time. It'* MDR (Moving Directional Radar) horns in front, back and side windows that are causing the havoc. So an investment in anything that blocks readings would be overkill at this juncture.

In as much as driving "the limit" in most cases... I do. Without living here in Ontario presently it'* hard to explain to an outsider that tickets for $178.00 for throwing a cigarette butt out your window (littering). "Speeding tickets" as in 7 KM over the limit ($180.00) etc have now become the norm here. Since around Jan 1 this year the police have just gone crazy. Remember, even a ticket of any kind over a limit will cause point loss and the insurance rate hike. Your getting it coming and going. I have no intention of being the victim of another over zealous (I'll nail his rear end with a 6KM over ticket) again. As I said. Enough is enough. Not since driving in California have I seen such an overuse of income tactics as this. I need to do something to protect my rating. Hell, my 76 year old mother who'* never had a ticket in her life walked away with a $115 fine for 8 KM over the limit 2 weeks ago...

So slow down, don't break the law by owning one. Bollocks !
