Maybe pull the radio and ensure the antenna is plugged in. We could tell you to look over the outside for the antenna..but you'll never find it.
Built into the windsheild or rear window IIRC.

FM is mounted in the front glass, AM is mounted in the rear glass, (i could have that backwards) there is a switching module up in the headliner to switch between the two.
This seems to be a relatively common problem.
Karl, is it just one band (AM/FM) or is it both that have bad quality?
Perhaps move out of the country, and that oughta fix your problem

but Siriusly (pun intended); i believe that many people have similar complaints, i will check in the manual when i get home to see if there is any way of determining if the module is switching properly. If it is, i think this is going to just have to get chalked up to one of them things that your gonna have to deal with... cuz if you put a big antenna on those clean 00+ lines ill kick your ***

GM for some years was using the antenna windshield and went to a mast again for better reception IMO.
Why they decided to do it again...only goes to prove they were once again ensuring the superiority of the 97-99'*.
