Need some help with installing aftermarket cd deck

Default Need some help with installing aftermarket cd deck

Hi im new to the forums. About a month ago I bought a 95 bonneville and I want to put a cd deck in. I just bought a mp3 eclipse 3413 deck and was wondering if I need to remove my dash to put it in. or can i just take out the factory deck without removing the dash? thanks for your help in advanc

You dont have to remove the dash, but you do have to remove the dash trim (the part that goes around the radio, heat & AC controls, and all the way over to the other side of the dash)
Then you will see the 3 (I think) screws that hold the radio in

You will also need a adapter kit so it'll fit in the dash, in case you hadnt already gotten one--available at most electronics stores that do installs

i got the adapter kit already. How would I go about removing the trim? does it unscrew somewhere or just pop off?

ok i was successful in removing the trim. I didnt realize it stretched all the way past the steering wheel. I'm gonna remove the deck tonight and put in the cd player. do I need to cut the power going to the deck or can I just pull it out after I unscrew?

have u ever done this before? u may want to disconnect ur battery if ur gunna be messing with ur power wire

no i haven't myself persoanlly, but im having a few of my friends help me who have before. I know to remove the negative connector to the battery, so i might as well disconnect the whole thing. any suggestions on what to do or what to be careful of? I'll try and get some pictures up after im done

You aren't cutting any wires. You'll need to get a harness that adapts the original GM plugs to the the Eclipse plugs.

he is right u shouldnt have to cut any wires just get the harness and make sure its gm
