Default Ipod project

I'm gonna be working on putting an I-pod dock into my center console, between the shifter and the glove box, (where all the seat controls would be on a sse or ssei), it looks like the best place to put one where the controls could be easily reached and the screen would be visible. I'll post some pics when i get started

If you have patience you can cut open an opening the size of the recessed portion of the dock, put the dock underneath, and then use a filler and blend it and make it seamless. That was my plan, but I didn't have the patience. If you've got any questions post up and let'* see some pics when you're done.

I'm gonna put it where you had yours Sully, but i'm gonna put it under the plastic and hardwire it in. that way it looks stock. my headunit has aux in so i'll directly connect it to that. I'm gonna cut a hole just big enough for my ipod (the shuffle) with a dremel and paint the dock the color of the plastic panal.

Then i'm thinking about getting 2 more panals from the bone yard and cutting the opening for the size of an ipod video on one (the wires will be quick connected to the docks) and one left stock for when i am not using the ipod, or if i want to remove it.

I was thinking of doing something like that for mine.

Then I came up with another idea and when I have time, I'll try and do it. If you have the arm rest box that has the flip out cup holder, I was thinking of making something that flips out, so I can put it away when I don't have my iPod in my car.

Plus I like my blank cover there, that'* where I hide stuff

i agree with 95 sle, i have toggle switches in that lil console piece and when i take it off you can see where i dropped in my cell phone charger that i gutted and ran to a toggle then into the glove box where a mounted case holds my sidekick into place. hit the toggle switch, close the box, and your phone is charging and secure for the ride. just pondering why you dont wanna do a hardwire ipod hook up? they are so much better and are outta the way mine is under my shifter hiding...
