Default Intermitant FM reception...

My reception on FM station fades in and out...is this because the antena may have become disconnected or loose? Everything else works just fine except for that. Can someone give me details on how to get to the back and check it out or reconnect it if that is indeed the problem? Thanks much...it is in the 2000 SSei! Thanks,

Mac

It'* possible that there is a loose connection between the antennae in the rear window, and the radio. it is a coaxial type cable. By a loss of FM reception, do you mean that it becomes less clear, or that it just barely comes in at all? If reception is minimally reduced, it'* possible that the amplifier for the antennae is shutting off for some reason. It is located above the headliner, towards the rear of the car.

Yeah it just becomes less clear not gone altogether but is very annoying and not really worth listening to!! Is the amplifier easy to get to or do I need to get into the headliner? Thanks for getting back to me!

this is the trouble shooting in the GM service manual for the 2000 model of Bonneville. Hopefully this helps you trouble shoot the problem!
