How do I replace factory amplified speakers?

Hmm you got the right wiring harness? If you do then you might have to bypass the onld amp and just splice the wires before and after the amp and take the amp out and sell it

Yeah I had the problem with no sound coming out of the speakers when I tried to put in my alpine head unit. Evenually I got fed up and took it to Best Buy and they installed it and my subs in an hour and a half. It took my most of the afternoon to get nowwhere on the deck so it was nice to get it working. Have yet to pull it out and check and see what he exactly did cause he didn't need any adapters I was told I would need for the bose stereo. After getting the Alpine unit installed it made a night and day difference on what the speakers sounded like. They were really muddy and didn't have much for highs before. Now they sound great and with my 2 12" alpine type r'* it thumps pretty good too.

By the way... That little box in your trunk is the compass module.

The radio should be able to wire up to the existing speakers and amplifier. Even if the amplifier didn't work, I am pretty sure that the front speakers are wired directly to the radio.

Check the wiring to the factory harness.

I got it figured out. I did have to bypass the stock amp. All I did is splice in the wires. All I had to do is find out the color of the wires running to the speakers & match them up to the output wires on the amp(they use the same color for input & output), splice into the harness after the amp & voila....SOUND & damn nice sound at that.

I just remembered that the factory amplifier probably has a "radio on" signal that must be applied to it before it will activate itself.
