How to add Class II data radio to older car. - Page 3 - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

As I wrote also, this specific Cobalt HU, the radio works, the CD player doesnt, so this HU was an option to be mounted to my bench, with a Cobalt bcm, powered by a 12v bench supply.. Doing it that way, yeah, the bcm/radio would have to be burned for a specific vin (I'd have both, the radio'* vin, and the vin off the junkers bcm).

My background info.. I'm an Extra Class Amateur Radio operator, I built a lot of ham radio gear, both component and digital, over the last 35+ yrs, so doing this isnt really an unknown, it'd just be my first time matting a non-Class2 chassis, with a Class2 component. The oem data bus would still be intact, as far as I can tell now.

so you are going to buy a bcm, pay 45 to put the program into it for a radio on your bench that makes even less sense.

QSL!! ex-KC2JGA. Current call is a vanity.

I'm still fascinated with the ultra-violet glow of a Swan 2000watt amplifier!
