The high beams are angled differently then the low beams and as such will go into the eye's of the oncoming drivers more so than the low beams. In other words, the high beams are more widespread then low's.

I have noticed that the HIDs are aimed a little too low. I asked the auto shop teacher today and he said that they could be aimed a bit better.

Here are a few pictures of the box and ballasts. Mick has asked this question in another thread but hasn't received any replies so I'll ask here. Right after the installation, the headlamp monitor came on in the DIC. That usually indicated that there is a burned out headlight bulb, well there isn't. Anyone have this problem after installing HID's or does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

that's because HID bulbs pull 35 watts when on and regular HL bulbs pull 55 watts when on. (each) No wonder it says they are blown huh?

got a picture stright on of the ballast? almost looks like a fake repo from that angle.

I'll try to get a better picture of the ballast when Mick comes home from school. I hope we can fix this since I hate having that headlamp display on in the DIC.

either pull the display bulb out, put the legal halogen bulbs back in, find some massive resistors, or live with it.

I don't want to pull the bulb out, and I read that there was some drilling into the back of the headlight to acomidate this instalation so I don't know if the old bub will go back in. I don't know what massive resistors are........so where does that leave me?

massive resistors would basicly consume the missing 20 watts of power per side that is missing when using HID bulbs.

leaves you with dealing with it or uninstalling.

I don't like either one of those options. Has anyone else ever encountered this same problem. We can't be the only one's that have installed Hella HID conversions in a Bonneville.

Find some 20 Watt bulbs, wire them in parallel with the HID kit, and hide them somewhere where they won't shine. This is equivelent to the resistors Corvettecrazy mentions. fuddyduddy121 installed an HID kit, but i don't think it was hella. search for his posts.
