Got my new radar detector
This just came.
Got to work on it right away.
Installed the antenna in the grill. I moved it down a bit from there, it was hitting the hood.
Got it sitting on my dash for now. Got some gauge cups coming. I plan to mount them to the A-pillar, and in time get a A-pillar gauge pod.
Been watching these for a while now. They were first $399.99, now the price is about $250 to $300. Went on Ebay and found one on clearence with a buy it now for $149.00 + $10.00 shipping. Got it right away. It'* very nice. I didn't take a picture, but it has a small spaeker mounted on the pillar behind me near my ear. It tells me with a voice what it'* detecting, then sounds an alarm.

Took me about an hour, but I was taking my time. it was rather easy. My only problem was I used one of those splicless connectors and it didn't work, so I had to mess with that. I finlyy stripped a wire and soldered it. So that took a while.

Works great. It will take a while to get used to the voice. Kinda jumped the first time I heard a female voice from behind me saying X band. Wish it came in red instead of blue. I remember reading something about if it detects anything trying to detect it, it will shut down and go stealth. Has many other features I like. It has an outside temp, I thought, what do I need that for, I have one in the car. So I dropped the probe in to my air box. Now I know the temp of the air going in to my engine. Also has a volt gauge. It also has something called the radar safty system. Somehting about areas that have the system, the detector wil warn you of road conditions. I will have to look in to that more.

I looked on line and I found another flavor of this detector, it'* the Whistler Cruisader, it'* made for motorcycles, and snowmobiles. Looks to be the same price. The only difference I saw was a black faceplate.
