Gm Nav 09 escalade
Just quizzing a few of you. I like the stock look, sound, but this function I dont know how much more of it I can take. The bluetooth for phone but not audio was a brilliant idea...... and this dang disk read error on my navigation makes me want to crash this thing in a pond. I love the rig and I like keeping it stock for the most part. Has anyone came across an affordable unit that sounds well without all the integration connectors. Im not trying to have to hold down the horn 3 times do two jumping jacks and a chinese fire drill to get video on the move or bluthoth connected. I have not come across anything. Mainly I want all my feature controls to work as intended. I replaced my unit in my tahoe an I didnt ever get the SWC to work. Also if any of you have this gen you know that this console is quite possibly the biggest bulkiest pen collector ever made. If I have to take my head unit out any good upgrades that come with a cubby?
For the day.. I think GM decided that they would continue to build their systems like a tank that runs hot all the time !
Unfortunately, the integrated performance was overall a PP design. Taking apart the unit to clean the CD laser pick up, is not my idea of having fun either.
Today, we have way more features available from the aftermarket head units than ever before incl Apple & Android car play, satellite radio,USB, full on Bluetooth,Navigation, wireless charging. DVD +++
Now of course shopping for a new unit gets real confusing real quick! (what features do I really need )...
That is where we have to turn to companies like Crutchfield and our local stereo shops/ installers to figure what is available that integrates completely & correctly with an 09 Escalade.
Making a call to Crutchfield will probably land you with a few different models to choose from. Then local shopping at shops, where you can see the units may be the best way to go!
