I'm not a RF fan but many people are happy with their stuff.

the amp you get will be money dependent. Obviously money goes hand in hand with quality

I'll probably try ebay as I've seen some good deals on new amps already.

I would look into the Hifonics Z400. You could probably get one pretty cheap, and IMO Hifonics makes decent stuff for the price.

I'll check it out thanks. I am looking for quality definitely, but not extremely high price stuff either. I got a really good deal on the subs and enclosure, so I may splurge a little more on a great amp. But I still have a budget. But I'm not going to Pepboys or WalMart

Pete.... You are looking to go in slow right?

HU, subs and amps?

Let me know when you start in...I've got some background and might be able to help out on keeping things like the gain slider until you dump the internal amp.

Will do Bill, I'd like to keep the Gain slider. And radio controls on the wheel I'd say by October I should have everything (subs/amp, aftermarket speakers, and HU). I will be picking up the subs/amp early August and probably installing them then too.

To keep the steering controls, a PAC SWi or SWx should also be picked up.

On the gain slider, that'* a single wire that needs a power turn on (you can use the same one as your amps). Only other thing is you'll need a couple extra wires to add to the harness you use. I've got most of a connector'* full of wires here from a second one I purchased to add wires to mine.

i have a 12 inch kicker L7 with an audiobahn 1800 watt amp and a 2.4 farad capacitor. i've gone through a few types of subs and a few amps also, this is my best setup yet, when it comes to subs and amps you really dont want to cheap out becuase it will just sound like crap, i am a fan of the rockford subs, however their amps are garbage. i got my amp brand new on ebay for $140 shipped and i got my sub from cash converters, there is nothing wrong with a used sub or amp as long as they are not blown, they will test them before you buy them if you ask.

anyway even my '96 SE has unbelievable stock speakers, and i cant imagine that your ssei ones arn't better than mine, i dont recomend buying aftermarket speakers unless yours are blown. trust me once you have the bass you wont be turning up your volume half as much as you do now. also dont pay some jerkoff a million dollars to install them, if you dont know how i will tell you step by step, it aint that hard good luck

ya a cap is only a band aid for a weak electrical system...upgrade the alt and do the Big 3 and you will have no problems

OH and RF amps being crap eh..i tend to disagree with that statement....my TYPE RF'* are working great
