Default Factory stereo question

The stereo in my 95 SSE is wigging out. It’* the factory 7 band cd player, 95 exclusive model another words I can’t put in a 94 stereo or a 96 stereo.

What it is doing is on its own its rapidly changing stations on me, spitting out the cd on its own, volume goes up on its own, yeah its pretty possessed.

I didn’t know if there is a way to clean some contact on the wiring harness going to it or taking it apart and cleaning some thing inside.

I really like the factory look so I won’t be putting in a after market stereo to fix the problem.

I’ve tried putting in a 98 7 band factory radio but it just did not work right with car either.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

You've reseated the connector....

Steering controls can't eject a cd etc.

I'm thinking something small and not repairable is shot inside. You should be able to replace with other years though..

try pulling the radio out and letting it sit for like 10min with out power.. and also clean the contacts in the plug...

i dont know if you have taken it out befor, but its REALY easy. 2min takeout.

just pop off the trim and then 4 bolts and its out....

Well they must like changed how control work be then. If they letting it sit didn't work , I think it time to find 95 at the junk yard.

I have had the radio out probably 10 times now. Hoping its just a peace of dust thats screwing it up.

It has this problem some days and other days its fine.

I just searched the local online scrapyard ( http://www.johnsauto.com/ ) and no luck.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what might be causing your issue, but it does sound internal. Next time you have it out, see if you can remove the cover and see anything really obvious....

Thanks for checking on that for me. I'll do that. I was thinking of blowing it out with a bottle of compressed air to clean any dust or dirt away.

I personally would still open it up if possible. Blow the potential gunk out, not further in.

The thread about the clock light had a link to the directions for removing the face plate. Maybe from there you can see if the top comes off fairly easily.
