right now cash is pretty thin. but i got christmas coming up soon..lol .. ide like to upgrade the front speakers more than anything right now. some more clarity would be nice .. how would i get 61/2 inchers to fit in the factory holes? ide have to cut the doors? eventually i will get a 12" sub for the bass so i wont need major power to the full range speakers if i could afford it i would go with an all-infinity system but the price is too much. once i start working in the summer again ill probably get seperates. but for now would it be good to add crossovers and tweeters to the fronts only?

I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. If you buy $69 speakers you get $69 quality.

I've been doing this for about 13 years now (Holy crap I'm getting old) and its a good moto to live by.

I have a 90 too. I put 6.5'* in. I took out the speaker and plastic piece which holds it. I then built a template of MDF to fit the hole. I also made a ring of MDF for the speaker to go into. Then I screwed the ring to the template. I had to cut the bottom of the door panel off for all of this. I am in the middle of building a new bottom out of fiberglass.

But then you cant get a powerful sub & amp, you are going to have to match the two. Otherwise your bass will overpower your highs. With the 6 1/2'* I used the template that came with the speakers. Cut it out of the door on the bottom painted the rings & grille to match the interior and mounted them. They looked pretty good almost factory. Definently helped with the imaging.

last night i took out the factory 6x9s and replaced them with ones made by KOSS (yes they did make a 6x9) they cost me $45 dollars CND at crappy tire about a year ago, i just found em now. for cheap speakers they sure sound better than what was in there. question: is there an easier way to get the rear grilles off? it took me an hour to get them off using screwdrivers and a metal rod. the gain amp is no longer active but your right it really doesnt matter. so now i have good enough bass for the time being. i have yet to install my sony HU because my dad decided to take it and put it in his 240sx when i upgrade my fronts, im going to go with 5 1/4" mids b/c i really dont want to cut the doors. is there a way that i can un-dent the tweeters? mine have been pushed in a bit for some reason

systems is one of my strong points....if you want the best bang for your buck go w/ pioneer....they have excellent speakers for cheaper prices....if you have the $$$ to spend (get pioneers and give me the extra) (lol just kidding) but seriously if you have $$$ go w/ infinity or some high brand accoustics....boston or something....pionners are good alpine is pretty good too...id look at getting (if you have $$$) a different HU...sony is decent but not the best...right now im running a panasonic...i like it a lot it sounds good and has awesome features...pioneer decks are really good too...so its up to you check out sites like www.ebay.com or shopping.yahoo.com ...just my .03

Is the grille or the tweeter itself damaged. If its the dome of the tweeter take a real small needle and use it to pop the dome of the tweeter back to factory shape.

i tried that. its the tweeter dome itself. this is gonna sound really stupid but i was able to get one un dented by sucking on the dome it worked well but the other ones are just too damaged. is it possible to take the dome off the magnet assembly completely? that would make it a lot easier . they still work fine its just an eyesore .... and how do you get the rear grilles off?

Are you talking about factory tweeters or stock?
