Default E20 (CD Error)

1998 Buick Regal LS
Hi Guys ! ... Placing a CD in my 1998 Buick Regal LS radio take it smoothly and a few seconds after CD ejects and an E20 Error shows in the screen. I tried so far to disconnect the battery, waited for 30 min, connected back but no luck. I read that might reset the radio and could fix the error. Someone out there that might give me a hint ? ... Thx !

It'* a disc read error. I had the same issue with my 97 Bonneville. Every once in awhile I would get a disc that it could read, but wasn't worth the hassle.

Time to get a new deck. And if you have the extra money, look for a 4 channel amp and matching speakers.

I have been thinking about it to buy a new one but wanted to try to see if I could fix the original. Kind off like the original scenario. Thanks for the tip Mike !

In the long run, if you plan on keeping the car for awhile, IMO go to a place that does stereo installs like Bestbuy. They have been doing it for many years and have access to everything needed to do a good install.

You can fix some read errors by cleaning the laser eye that reads the disc. This video shows you how to do it on a standard DVD player. Similar for your automotive application. One correction to the video. DO NOT use rubbing alcohol. Use denatured alcohol as it will not leave a film on the lens and rubbing alcohol does. You can get denatured alcohol at a drug or hardware store.
