if its a quality box, it will be glued and screwed...

i would just have a new box made..

..

ok box is done i took it apart as easy as i made it first i unscrewd all 157 screws. then i used my 500 watt heatgun to heat up the hot glue i used to seal the box (flooring glue for wood floors) and gently banged it apart with a rubber mallet. came apart like butter. so now i cut the box in size from 40''wx19''dx17''h cut down to 34''wx19''dx17''h. it then fit right thru my curved trunk perfect. ( i made a demo out of cardboard first to make sure it will fit).. on my first test run i knocked off my rearveiw mirror with 1 kicker 15'' L7 dual 2 ohm and a kicker sx1250.1. then after knocking down my mirror i turned up the gain and the boostcut and on the second trial i noticed the trunk looking like it was going to open and then everything including the car turned off...

so i checked to see if it would start and check all my equipment. but i found that my alternator had just completley died and wont move no more.... :(

worked fine in the 88 see and fried the 95 alt .. ouch
i am glad you were able to get the box apart so easily..
I had a custom box for my L7 15 in my explorer and had the same problem you had.
would not fit into my bonne.. no way it was coming apart. screws and elmers carpenter glue.. seams were the strongest points..

do you have a higher output alternatory in your 88 ,, because even with one sub
i upgraded.. you have 2 so will definately want to upgrade the alt.

Glad to hear it all worked out. Well..until the car died.

Do you have no power at all even with key on and not running? That would indicate a main fuse or other problem. I assume your battery would still have some power left in it.

If it'* not a main fuse (likely though), You can get an upgraded 140 amp alternator that would help. They are readily available. Mr. Alternator makes on of the best ones.
