in the 92 and 93 they used the radio to dim the ECC...if you removed the radio and put in a aftermarket on you always would get max brightness on your ECC

94+ they changed the face of the radio and did away with the ECC relying on the radio for the dimming....you can install a aftermarket radio in a 94+ and still have the dimming

Pat...can you look up the inputs on the radios and I'll look up the 97. I'm pretty sure if we compare notes we'll find something causing this issue. I don't have a 93 book though.

From the 93 FSM...on the dimming feature

the ppl/wht cirucuit sends dimming info to the heater and A/C conntrol assembly



grey- interior lamps dimming cell
orange-12v constant
dk grn- dimming
yel - 12v accessory
Pink pwr antenna/ amp (if equipped)
ppl white VF dim input (if equipped with Electronic A/C only)
Blk- ground

there is also
DK grn
lt grn
both are for steering wheel controls

so what all does this mean using a 95 radio in a 94? Should I check the bulbs or something else.
