Usually the manufacturer will advertise one or the other or both. People like myself, raptor, and montels will know which subs are more SQ and which ones are more SPL.

I personally don't like JL Audio for the fact that you can get a lot more for the same money with other brands.

I might be biased, but the Image Dynamics subs will work in very small ported boxes and are geared toward SQ.

That will work between .55 and 1.0 cubic feet sealed.

the shallow mount JL'* arent reaally overpriced to badly, not like the W7'*! lol.
Personal experience is how i mainly tell between SPL and a SQ sub. and there are certain charactoristics. Large surround, huge magnent and a high power handling usually means SPL.

Except in cases with small magnets, small surrounds, and low power handling with a Kicker CVR, which is not really good for anything, lol.

Kicker and SQ should never be used in the same sentence. Ahh **** I did it...

You'll get some, but I would only use one if you're really tight on space. How much kick are you talking here? How often do you blast this sub to its full capacity?

I think an IDQ10V3 or ID10V3 sub would suit you perfectly. What kind of amp are you using?
