Ok. That makes sense. A lot of people on the audio forums do sub/port forward with the box sealed from the trunk. I thought about it but since my seats don't fold down I decided not to.

The reason I asked about the ports is because I saw what looked like ports in the trunk pics. But now that I actually think about it they are just cutouts for the trunk supports. Duh.

i got a msg from someone saying the new box might be somewhere around 1.25 cu ft, is that big enough? remember this is sealed
i heard sealed boxes take less space than ported

StealthGXP 12-04-2010 07:44 PM

Just depends on the Sub Sam...

but it doesn't sound big enough

My seat doesn't fold down either, but there is a gap between the box and seat so as long as the little door is open it's all good. Even with it shut the it just dampens the sound a bit.

in general ported boxes need to be larger than sealed boxes. your sub in a sealed enclosure needs to have at least 1.25 cu ft AFTER sub displacement. Not saying it wont work. just thought i would bring it to your attention.

Again it depends on the sub.

You could go with a JLTW5 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?page_id=245

I appreciate your help, I'll call them tomorrow or monday and see what's going on, I need the sub box for sure, I need the room, if the box can't fit the sub mostly I'll downgrade to a W6 or something else

What would you recommend? Size wise

if your worried about trunk space, why dont you just put two subs in your back dash, and enclose them and call it done ?

that would be the easiest route IMO!
