I've a pair of alpine 12" subs im gonna put in the trunk as soon as i take them outa my old car. I am going to have the same problem with the compass. Is there a recommened distance from the sub box that the compass needs to be?

The funny thing with mine is that when I put in my new 6x9'* is when it happened. My subs weren't even in yet.

You might have the same problem. You will just need to find the compass box in the trunk and then either put your subs as far from it as possible or relocate the box. We haven't had enough people with this problem yet (or with the time to mess with it) to find out the details of why and how. I know I need to do mine so maybe I will do some research and testing on it at the same time, but that won't be for a while yet.

Basically as far to the rear as you can possibly get it with the stock harness length, and no gaurantees. That'* the best bet, though. It worked for a couple guys, but alot depends on your audio components and their location.

I have a 91 SSE.

I moved the compass to the side wall of the trunk (right beside the antenna).
Used some duct tape to keep her in place, and she works fine.

I did notice that when I calibrated her, I had to do a few extra circles in the parking lot.
But that'* probably because the compass is meant to be horizontal and not vertical.

It is meant to be horizontal. You probalby aren't reading very accurately. Every degree off level will throw off your directional readings by a specific amount. I'm not sure how much, but it will.
