What are some cd'* that you guys use to show off your SQ sound systems? My new favorite is Josh Groban "closer." I really like this cd! check it out. I also use stuff like Dire Straits, Evanescence, etc. any suggestions?

Jazz is good, Female voices are great on clear setups, evanescence is ok, use some of the more accoustic tracks though.

Anything accoustic actually, if your speakers are a good setup. Incubus, some DMB is just crazy. Sting is nice, santana..

Want more? I could rip my CD that B&W sent me when i registered my HI FI speakers.

you must be real old.. my mom listens to friggin' josh groban. I've found there is a world of difference from my car, my 5.1 surround sound, and my mom'* car.. and it seems, the problems of my home system show up on rammstein.. but I don't listen to any rap, or anything light.. just heavy stuff.

not old, I'm 19. I just listen to a very WIDE range of music. BTW, I was just ordering the Rammstein "mutter" cd on cdnow. lol. Rammstein is awesome! I usually buy all my music on iTunes, but they don't have them yet. oh well.

Dave Matthews Band has a lot of highs and lows, and the sound is produced well.

i'm thinking, why test your system on music you don't listen to? If you don't listen to it, and your system performs awesome on it.. then what is the point of listening to it? Music should be something enjoyable, and so, listening to crap you don't like, just to hear that extra db of bass, and that extra little high note.. isn't worth it. You should want your system to perform well on music you listen to. I see differences in quality from different systems.. on my own music, which I listen to frequently.

For competition, anything from DM records (Bass 305, etc) is pretty good, but sort of old school (if you consider mid-90'* old school for bass). For a real good sound check, Enya is awesome. She has an awesome voice on her, plus there is alot of bottom-end that a real good system will pick up that a normal one wont (or can't).
