cd player off? or not? - Page 2 - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

to turn the demo mode off depends on the specific model, older basic models will probably require pushing and holding the SEL button while the ignition is on, and the radio off. More advance older units will usually have a menu button (sometimes only found on the wireless remote). Newer units with a rotary volume ****, push and hold the control in to enter menu. Again knowing the model number and referencing the manual will give you exact steps. But to answer your original question, unless you have both the Sony'* red and yellow power wires to a constant (battery) wire, then you will not be draining your battery.

Come to think of it, those directions were taped to the face of my HU when I bought it. Apparently customer service was receiving a lot of calls.
