Bought a P3 12"
yeah its not even close to the best bang for your buck. You can buy an MTX Thunder 1501D for 300 bucks and it wont do anything less than a true 1000 watts. And Sony Amps are definitely crap. You got a good sub man. Make sure that you give it good power
a friend of mine works at a local stereo shop that carries hifonics and he told me that hifonics has really gone down hill since they have been bought out by crunch but i have to be honest and admitt that I have never heard a car with one of their amps in it in about 10 years. You know what I really think you should do? Go with Elemental Designs Mono block. It is rated at 1200 watts at 12.5 volts and is supposed to be underrated by about 10% That thing would pound your 12! Plus it has a 5 year warranty. I would have to say that it is the absolute best bang for your buck at around $365.00
I have a Viper d600.1 mono block class D subwoofer amp. 600 watts rms @ 1 ohm. This amp is great!!! it out powers any sony amp I have seen around here, I have had it hooked it up to several subs and it absolutely POUNDS!!!
they are owned by directed electronics, so the directed 600D is also the same amp. I bought mine at a local stereo shop two years ago for $350, still works great!

I'll second the nod for Directed. Mine fell off of my work bench and broke a mounting foot, but to this day hasn't skipped a beat.
At 1 ohm directeds 600D has a THD of 0.4 and MTX 1501D is 0.5. That isn't that big of a difference and as a matter of fact I think E designs 9.1 has a THD of 0.4 at 1 ohm as well. It puts out twice the power with a 5 year warranty for $365.00 I don't even have E Design amps in my car and I still think they are the best bang for your buck. I don't know if you even plan on having the same amp for 5 years but it would be under full warranty the entire time. You could actually get away with the 9.2x on that 12. I think it would be a perfect fit. Here is the link to it. http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=47
I guess its the most comperable to the previously mentioned mono blocks. Plus directed has a */N ratio of like 80 and ED is like 95. just my thoughts dude

Does eD outsource a lot of components in their electronics? I'm guessing it'* not all in-house components.. They do have some nice prices, and specs.
actually I did some research and found out that they make their amps in Korea... But they are still a great deal. And I have to retract my comment about MTX being the best bang for you buck. I started to think about it and sure my amps are both affordable and powerful but once you figure in the cost of the charging system upgrade you will need to run them, they are by far not the best bang for your buck at all. Not at all.
