Default Bonneville Rattles

Have any of you totally eliminated door and rear deck rattles on your Bonneville'*? I plan on buying a Bonneville later in the summer and the ability to install a great stereo in the car is extremely important. Right now in my Buick I have Infinity speakers in the front doors, and in the dash, no 6x9'* in the back, and pioneer subs. This setup as great sound quality, gets really loud, and makes enough bass that the rear view mirror will point down after listening to it for a while. My tail lights even flex about 1/8" to the bass. anyway, my point is that inside the buick there are no rattles at all. The fit and finish of this car is great.
My bro has a 92 Bonneville with Kenwood speakers all around, the 5.25'* in the front doors, and the 6x9'* in the back.. His system does not get very loud at all, and still there are so many rattles in his car that it sounds horrible. The front doors rattle really bad. THe plastic the speaker is connected to rattles, the door handles, the power windows switch pod, all the trim panels on the doors, etc. If you get some sound deadener, have you guys for the most part been successful in getting out all the rattles? Most of the Bonneville'* interior seems to be made of plastic. The LeSabre I have now used a type of cardboard material it looks like for the door panels. (thus it doesn't rattle at all. ) This probably sound stupid to most of you, it'* just I love the great sound of a stereo, and I want to make sure you can get rid of all the rattles on the bonneville.

anyone know how to fix the rear deck too? The rear deck rattles really bad and the 6x9'* don't put out too much bass, they just make a loud farting noise. The speakers are totally sealed off, I made sure of that.

being an installer for best buy,i found that dyna-mat extreme to be the best.the 6x9'* should be removed from the plastis mounts and MDF board used.mount the wood to the rear deck, then use a foam baffle they sell on cruthfield.com,them the speakers. same for the doors.if the trunk rattles,dyna-mat the lid the outline of your trunk seals. if you got the nice carpeted trunklid use that as the pattern.. youre gonna want to do the floor and the spare tire well too, becuse the heat shields rattle alot also. this should take care of MOST of the rattles.it worked for me.

what if you you just mounted all of the speakers on a rubber or flexible mount to stop the speaker vibrations from getting in the frame? I've seem simular stuff for indoor floor speakers at electronics/stereo stores...

i was thinking of using weather stripping between the mount and the metal, and the speaker and the mount. That should seal it off well, and stop some vibrations. Maybe if my bro is nice to me I'll sound deaden his car for him.

wow, you must be watching this topic like a hawk. It took you less than 5 min to respond to me... That sounds like a good idea, just something to glue between the speakers and the mounts?

A type of silicone could probably be used too, but that would be more permanent and more messy I'd imagine. I don't know if I want to get that involved in it. I can respond so quick because I have MSN messenger (with hotmail) and I get an email when my post has a reply. ( it pops up a window telling me who sent email the second I get it. )

another spot that rattles bad is where the third brake light is. The plastic around the lense touches the glass and makes it rattle and vibrate.

yeah, I have MSN messenger too thats how i noticed that you replied so fast. How about putting a drop of glue or silicone on a few spots between the window and the 3rd brake light? I know its a tough spot, I tried to vacuum dead bugs out of there a few weeks ago. You might need to take off that whole back piece, the GM people made it a really tight fit on my '97.
