If memory serves I think he said that he replaced the complete antenna cable assembly and still has the same problem...

Yes, as jr. said I already replaced the antenae wire and hooked up a different antenae, however this was done after the last radio replacement. I don't see how the old one could have damaged it though. I tested the end of the wire and no voltage or anything.

Well I picked up a stereo at a yard for $20, we'll see how long it lasts. The guy there used to run a stereo place in the 80s, he said that problem was quite common and was caused by battery cables being loose to played with. I did have a problem last summer with my battery cables so I'll give it a try.
After trying it out, I found that the radio I got is setup for Steering wheel controls(91 Bonne) so I can't use it. I'll have to pick up another one.
