Joe is the man! Alumnapro is good stuff. Between that and my extra optima yellow top, my Voltage stays at 14.7v ALL THE TIME, and no lights dim EVER, that'* all I have to say.

I don't know about pre 00 bonnevilles that much, is your battery under the hood? On mine it'* under the back seat and it does have vent tubes to the floor, The two competitions I entered judges told me that this is GOOD, no point deduction. If you have an extra battery that isn't vented, say like me and my yellow top, that is considered a points deduction in comps, not a big deal. Other wise they want you to have the battery in a box and a hose leading to the outside somewhere.

Joe, when you said they don't allow that at Great lakes, are you talking about the MECA shows they have there? I just became a MECA member yesterday and plan on going to all 7 of their shows there this year. Do they let you race too, or afterwards?

So I take it you haven't gone to one of the events there. We'll why don't you go this year, I'll let you know when the first show is, you'll know somebody there.

Go with a battery, i personally have an optima red top in my trunk...it all depends on the amp and the subs your amp is pushing also, im running a rockford 1500.1bd amp and the amp was pushing 2 10" orion hcca'* which can handle 1200 watts a piece (but they got stolen out of my trunk last week)...without the battery everything would dim alot...but i only get very little dim now....battery is the way to go

Red tops are for cars, yellow tops are for systems.

Before cap = dim headlights in rhythm
After 1 farad Rockford Fosgate cap = no dimmage at all
I recommend them.
I've got a yellow top since then, might be able to do without the cap now.
