Maybe I'll run by BestBuy tomorrow and see if they have the right one. Or maybe the ebay seller that sent me the wrong one initially will get back to me. Unfortunately,I already left positive feedback...

ps ddalder... When you got the retainer clips for your dash, p/n 17988488, what did you use for screws? Will anything work, do the clips come with them?

I'm always very careful about what I buy on eBay. Unfortunately, there are a lot of vendors who sell products that aren't well engineered and probably shouldn't be on the market. I can't fault you for wanting to give this a shot. This is just one of those circumstances where my previous education gave me a bit of an advantage. That, and the fact that most of my friends call me "anal retentive" because I'm very much a supporter of doing everything to, or in excess of applicable standards Give BestBuy a shot, I think they'll be able to help you out.

As for the screws, I had some kicking around that came from another car. Nothing special at all. If I had to guess, I'd say a #8 x 3/4" sheet metal screw should do the trick for you.

What are you installing?

This mess... JVC XG-700, DDIN, MP3/WMA, USB input... Didn't want a deck that stuck out a whole lot, needed the mp3/wma playback, the buttons appear that they will match the dash lights.

WOW! I'll be curious to see it powered up when you're done. Are you adding the sat radio capability?

Nope, not yet anyways... the module on the bottom left is to keep the steering wheel controls and the bigger black box is the GMOS-09 to keep the chimes and RAP. The head unit is also bluetooth ready with another $100 adapter...

Finally had some time, ambition, and cooperating weather to get the deck put in. I got the correct antenna adapter from BestBuy for like $12, so dont worry about the pseudo-octopus adapter killing my signal. Everything'* a bit tight yet and I have to adjust it a little bit to get it centered and allow the trim to go all the way back.
Start off with a blank slate...

How is the sound quality?
That'* quite the stereo and if it'* a reasonably priced unit (I doubt it, at least for my budget) I might be interested in putting one in my secret project car before it goes up for sale.

Looks like quite the install. Good work. I have to ask... did you have any problems with that GM0S-09 module? There have been a number of members who never did get it to work correctly. I'm curious about your experience. I'm currently working on another solution for one of the members that will hopefully work much better than the GMOS-09. I have never had a first hand experience installing one, although GXP_Vince did send me his to investigate. I've just heard lots of horror stories.

It'* not too bad, I think it would be better once I get new speakers all around and get enough power to my 6x9s that I put in that are horribly underpowered right now. I bought mine on ebay for under $200, Crutchfield has them for $250 http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...0&i=105KWGX700
