Default annoying problem

Ok my subs dont pick up some bass notes. With some songs it will hit really hard and sound great but with some other songs they dont hit AT ALL i can barely hear them. And i know their bumbin cause i watch them but i cant hear it in the car. My old MTX thunders hit more notes than my new soundstorms and the mtxs were blown and then rebuilt and only single voice coil. I hooked up a 10 inch infinity reference and that picked up more notes than mine, is it because they are lower quality subs? I was also wondering if a ported box would be better for a bigger trunk.

Ported boxes will give you more output if built correctly, but they will also have a limited range of music that they can play. try making sure your crossover is set at around 80hz as well.

I thought that sealed boxes had a more limited range than ported.

sealed boxes are more musically accurate than ported ones but ported boxes have more output at the same amount of power. Ported boxes are tuned to a certain note that it will have its highest output based on. Any frequency higher or lower will begin to lose ouput and some frequencies wont even be heard. For example, if a box is tuned to 50 hertz or something really high like that, it may not play notes that are closer to 27 hertz. So they are louder but more limited in range. Sealed boxes are closed in so in order to have a huge output with one, you will need to put alot of power to it.
