our 95 SSE had a lot of trouble playing them. It would play only certain brands, and even then, they had to be burned at a slow speed to keep them from skipping, or not playing at all. Eventually as the cd player aged it wouldn't play burned cd'* at all. :(

My 95 had no trouble playing CDRs recorded at any speed. I've got a pretty snazzy burner, don't know if that helped and I usually use TDK cd'* or whatever brand Costco is handing out that day.

Billboost, Does your stereo have the red strip in the middle of the clock and the lighter part to the top and bottom of the display... I think that stereo was used in 94-95... I think if the display is full red than you have a 97-99,00 stereo....
Not sure about the colors..it'* sitting on a pinball. Date manf. 05/95 and it played them bad boys whenever the mechanism would take them and get them to the laser

Stereo shop buddy said he could send out at cost fo 80 and get fixed. I got kenwoods kdc-mp828 instead.
