Default 2001 stock radio on 1992 SSE

Alright, I picked up a 2001 Stock bonneville radio with cassette for 2 dollars and the local pawn shop! Anyways, I installed it because my old radio was faulty. Everything appears to be installed correctly, but the radio just says LOC. I hav owned pontiacs before that did this and all you had to do was take the connection out and then put it back in. Does anyone know where I can take it to have it unlocked, or is there something I can do?

the LOC code is only available thru the dealer or if you have that protective cover over the time that has the code on it you can unlock it.

time to pay a visit to the dealer I would say

The 2001 radio is not a direct fit. Neither is the 94-99 radio. What modifications did you have to make?

hmm.. I actually haven't put it in yet. It is still sitting on the seat because it had the lock feature so I did not want to completely install it untill it was in. It looks pretty close though. I am guessing I will have to grind off part of the surrounding metal on the dash. Shouldn't be a problem.

The 2001 radio has a ribbon cable. I suspect you do not have that radio.

There are ways around the LOC feature. Some admins, gearheads here, etc, have the procedure, and if you post you may be able to have them PM you the directions.

Well, it is not a CD player, but the radio had the same set up as my old stock one that busted so I just thought it would work. Anyways, how should I get them to tell me?

well, All is well. I don't have the radio in perfect running condition, but it will be an easy installation. I just have to drill a couple holes and use some self threading screws to mount it to the dash. Thanks for yourconcern, though.
