My 97 SSEi has a factory Bose system with a cassette only.
I need a CD player in there badly. What types of head units will work with the bose? From what I understand the Bose head unit has no amplification, and finding a factory Bose CD seems to be difficult and costly. If I get a 99-04 CD player out of a Bonne or GP(or other Pontiac), will it work by just plugging it in? How about an aftermarket? I know you can't run 2 amps in series, so will a non- bose unit work without running new wires to each set of speakers and bypassing the Bose amps. And with the Bose I have seperates in the front doors so that will create another problem. If runnig new wires and installing a crossover is the only other solution then I'll probably go aftermarket. Thanks
your bose only has the feature of the rear tweets and the 6x9 sub, that is different from the non bose. the Amp is for the 6x9 sub only, all the other speakers are powered by the headunit, do it does provide power. Another headunit that has the CD player will be plug and play, i would stay away from the 2000+ headunits though....... anything from 95-99 will fit in there
