WOW! Cd players in the 88-91 SSE'* are very rare!

But on topic, you may have a hard time finding parts for it. There may be places that rebuild them.

I have heard through a stereo shop buddy that some of these can be fixed at a premium cost. Try some of the stereo shops in your area and ask about having it sent out to be fixed. The costs may be prohibitive.

this place fixes them, http://carstereohelp.com/pontiac.htm

But it looks like it'll cost you $190 minimum to get it fixed. It looks like the Transport used the same CD player. Maybe you could find one from a Transport??

You might try United Radio Service. They are authorized for GM and several other auto makers. I've dealt with them on a couple of occasions and found them to be very helpful. No idea on the cost for your repair. They also offer exchange radios (if there is availability).

They are based in East Syracuse, NY.

Here is the site of a company that I used to work with (I was employeed by the parent company Belron Inc.)

Technicentre is in Quebec but, they are probably one of the largest and most experienced AC Delco repair centres in north america.
FYI they also repair gauge clusters for AC Delco as well.

Check out their site, its a great company:
