Default Window motor question

First we have a 2000 SSEi with 114k. I take this car all over the U.*. for work. I actually have started working in Arizona last year whenever it was like 130 for the 15 days I was here. I noticed after a while my rear windows wouldn't roll up or down, which one of them i had left cracked to vent the heat out...so while trying to assist it up, I messed up the regulator. Ok, so that one is fine...the other three however at any given time the motor will stop working whenever the temperature gets hot. Right now, it'* only my drivers window not working. I have at times been able to take the door panel off, unplug the wire harness and plug it back in and the motor work fine. My question is, is it actually the motor itself or the wiring? Thanks in advance.

The window motors and cable assy have been a PITA on our beloved Bonnevilles. In most cases it is the cables that cause the problems and the window will then be loose. In your case if the window is tight but just won't move you can be pretty sure it'* the motor. You can get it to move sometimes by banging on the door panel but it eventually quits on you. The good news is the motor is only about $40 and you do not have to take the cable assy out to replace...Good luck and check ebay for motors.

Is there a difference in the left and right side of the car as far as motors go?

Before you start replacing motors, which may or may not be the problem, try other things. The front windows in particular have a tendency to bind up mechanically. Next time the window stops working, try taking the door apart, remove the 3 bolts holding the motor in, and take out the motor. You'll see the tension release, and putting the motor back in will allow things to work again. While the door panel is off, lubing the regulator mechanism well, with a good silicone based grease could very well solve the problem.

Unless things changed after 2000, the motors are the same for each door. The regulator mechanism is different.
