the HUD shows 98 mph when the rev limiter
hits at 58 or 5900 rpm in 2nd gear which is just beyond
the last set of lights at the drag strip.
first time that happened i thought i broke my wifes car.

If your car gets any faster, it will need a steeper gear ratio with that new beefed up Trani with an LSD. That way you can be well into 3rd gear crossing the finish line.

I know the fix is a PCM, for us think we have to ask DHP for this or does it come this way. Just curious if any one knows.

Hey Rrounds, what mods are you running?

Any tweaked PCM will raise the third gear limiter, the standard shift points, fuel tables, and remove teh govenor as standard.

Are you guys asking for anything special with your DHP'* other than tuned for your mods?

Rrounds, what tips are you using? Nice mods, ever scan for KR? Just curious. You need to get some pics of that ssei.

Tips are 5 1/2" x 2 1/2" chrome retangles. I do not have a scan tool that records, so it just shows you an instant read. And I do not have a digital camera yet. I keep looking at them, guess I will have to start looking more seriously. When it stops raining in Sacramento, I will take it out and find out if I have a speed limiter on my car. My PCM is not acting like a stock PCM. I bought this car new for my wife. I would like to do a silver bullet intake and 1.8 SLP roller rockers. Then hopefully, it will be fast enough for my wife.

Or you can just mod the crap out of it with the stock gear ratio and be well into 3rd gear anyways. The GTP shifts into 3rd at around 95mph, and it traps between 107 & 109.5, so its in 3rd gear for quite a while. If he did that to his SSEi he wouldn't need to change gearing. Although, his tranny probably wouldn't last as long...

found this in Car & Driver mag. 11/99 for a 2000 SSEI
gear..ratio......mph/1000 rpm.....max test speed
..1....2.92.........9.1.......................50(5 500)
..2...1.57..........17.0.....................98(58 00)
..3...1.00..........26.6.....................108(4 050)
..4...0.71..........37.8.....................126(3 350)
im glad my pcm will let me go faster than 108 in third.
that must suck !
