I can remember on friends car (maybe 1980 monty) and he purchased
some new american racing rims that had a swoop pattern.
so he came to my house so I can check out his new rims. and I look and tell him the pattern is going the wrong way. he went back to the shop and bitched.
the guy took about an hour to explane that thats how they come.

That'* too funny. The shop guy probably took awhile just trying to figure it out the first time someone complained. It isn't something that you would normally think about.

Just think... if ya took the car in to have the tires roatated, when ya got it back they might all run the wrong way

That could happen and did on my son'* probe but when I had mine done last week I stated I wanted the tires rotated front to back only, this was where I discovered all the wheels are the same direction.

Shops should be getting a lot better at noticing these things now with uni-directional tread becoming more and more popular. My snow tires (on 20-spoke honeycombs) are uni-directioal and I have written on the inside edge of the rim (with a sharpie) what side they go on just to make it easier. There'* nothing worse than getting everything all switched over and on the ground only to realize that you've got them on the wrong sides... I haven't done it on my b'ville, but I did do it on one of my dad'* tractors when my brother and I put the duals back on... Nothing like pulling off 400+lb rims/tires again just to switch sides to firmly inbed the notion of LOOKING AT THE DAMN TREAD before putting them on! LOL...
