Default coolant leak.. not the upper intake...

I was driving today looking for a place to eat on my lunch break... im already mad cuz everywhere i want to go is pack! well on my way to Publix, i notice that my temp gauge is almost pegged in the red! well i get in the parking lot and pop the hood, where the belts on the engine, just below the alt. theres a rubber black thing, not sure nor can i get pics right now..at work. its leaking from there. does anyone know what i am talking about? if so what can be done? how hard? how much? thanks! Also, has anyone else had this problem?

Your not very clear on the black thing where the alternator is?
But it could be the top of the water pump or lower intake or a cracked coolant elbow?
At this point all your looking at is gaskets so it shouldnt cost too much, unless you get someone else to do it, shop rates are high.

Sounds like the heater water inlet pipe, (coolant elbow coming out of the lower intake)
need more specifics.

I can get the part number tomorrow at work. On mine it was 3 bolts and loosen the alternator/tensioner assembly enough to be able to slide the old pieces out and the new one in. You will need some lubing grease so that it slides in (put the end in the tensioner assembly first then insert into intake and replace bolts and belts. If you still have coolant in the the car you will lose some out of the intake.
