Default Wheel bearing split while removing- parts left in the knuckle

Pulled the passenger side front wheel bearing late last night. Started at 9pm, about 105 degree in the garage. My shop light broke, so working with just a residential overhead light.

Pulled the wheel bearing, it was a bit ward to get out. What I discovered was the back part of the wheel bearing separated from the main bearing body and was froze in the knuckle. It took about ten minutes to get the separated wheel bearing part out of the knuckle. It was seating so nicely in the knuckle- it gave the appearance, in low light, that it was part of the knuckle.

Justin,

That is good to know. I have done four wheel bearings on a Bravada and never had it happen, so i was not expecting it.

No, just that the wheel bearings fail so often in the Bravada that they don't have enough time in place to mold into the knuckle.

I think I am going to put a very light coat of never-seize on the inside of the knuckle before mounting the new wheel bearing.

I dunno Mike. It must be the heat thing or something down your way. Wrong rotors, now your breaking bearings. I'm never letting you drive my S10 when you do move up here.
